Mr. Wayne Shiffer has unfortunately passed away as a result of his injuries suffered when he was ejected from his makeshift moped after hitting a small dog back on May 17th around 9:30 am. What is being called a moped was actually a 26" 10 speed bicycle, fitted with a small engine. The engine was powering the bike at the time of the accident.
The dog which ran out in front of the moped on Bryce Canyon, west of Mt. Hood, had fled the scene, but was later found at home before being taken to the vet where it died that same day. Mr. Shiffer was taken to UMC Trauma, where he was treated for his injuries before passing away on May 24, 2021.
This death marks the 51st traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction for the year 2021. This collision remains under investigation by LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section.
